Why AEO status is important:
For the Dutch customs the implentation of the AEO status is an important next step in the cooperation with the business.
It fits in the efforts to "horizontalize" the checking. This means that both business and customs are responsible for
a safe and honest flow of goods across the EU borders.
It offers the possibility to take care together for a safe logistic chain.*
A few examples of the advantages of the AEO Certificate:
Such certificate offers several advantages in the international trade. The customs grants several facilities for physical customs checks to companies with an AEO status.
The European Commission works with a number of countries (like the USA and China) for mutual recognition of the safety certifications. Once this mutual recognition has been realized these countries will check less from shipments from companies with AEO certification.
The mutual recognition with Japan has already been realized.*
